About 14 million Ecuadorians will be able to vote on four questions that will decide how the country tackles rampant drug violence and addresses economic reforms.
Ecuadorians began voting on Sunday on whether to allow the return of foreign military bases and the drafting of a new constitution that could give more power to the country’s Trump-friendly president.
“This day reaffirms that democracy is exercised, respected and defended by voting,” Diana Attament, chair of the National Electoral Council, said in announcing the start of voting.
About 14 million Ecuadorians will be able to vote on four questions that will decide how the country tackles rampant drug violence and addresses economic reforms. Voting will close at 5 pm local time.
