Trump rips New Jersey Democrat Mikie Sherrill as ‘fake and corrupt’ with ‘unusual name’

The president said that he would be running a campaign for Jack Ciattarelli during a telerally in support of the Republican nominee.

Donald Trump urged New Jersey residents to reject Democrat Mikie Sherrill at the gubernatorial elections next month, calling her a fake and corrupt radical left Democrat who would plunge the state into a death spiral.

Trump promoted Jack Ciattarelli during a telerally just hours before he left for a potentially significant trip to Asia. Trump also stated that he would “be out there campaigning for Jack” after his trip, but he did not specify in what capacity. Ciattarelli recently hosted a rally with MAGA stars, but not Trump. The president’s popularity in New Jersey is low.

Ciattarelli’s third attempt to become governor. He came within three points in 2021 of beating incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy who has now reached his term limit.

Trump focused a lot of his attention on the call on New Jersey’s expensive energy bills. This was one of the most important issues in this tight race. Sherrill is a four-term member of congress who has pledged to declare an emergency and freeze the cost of energy.

Trump stated that “Mikie is a terrible person, but she has an unusual name.” Later, he added: “Mikie is such an innocent-sounding name but her energy policy would drive up your prices and make New Jersey more expensive.”

Trump also alluded to her punishment from 30 years ago, at the Naval Academy. She was not allowed walk at graduation. She said she was punished because she did not report her classmates’ involvement in a huge cheating scandal. She went on to become a Navy helicopter captain. He said that she had “lots of problems” in school and with honesty.

Sherrill stated after the phone call that this event clearly showed that Ciattarelli will be the “Trump Trenton” should he win on November 4. She criticized Ciattarelli’s response to Trump’s statement that he would withhold funding from the Gateway project, which is to build new rails tunnels between New Jersey and New York.

It’s not surprising that Jack is campaigning for Trump now, as he is running in New Jersey to be his lackey. Jack has cheered Trump as he strips healthcare away from hundreds of New Jerseyans, drives up costs and pockets billions of dollars with his tariff regime,” Sherrill stated in a press release. Jack couldn’t bring himself to mention anything about New Jersey commuters or Trump’s attack against the Gateway Tunnel Project when he spoke with Trump tonight. It’s pathetic.”

Ciattarelli was once critical of Trump, but now he has embraced him. He gave him an “A+” in a recent debate. Ciattarelli, a former state assemblymember, praised Trump for his policies on the southern border. He also praised the killing of offshore wind projects along the Jersey Shore, and the signing of the Big Beautiful Bill, which he said saved average residents $5,000 per year.
