Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi and the main accused in several high-profile cases, is being brought back to India after deportation from the United States, reports NDTV.
He is wanted in connection with the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui and conspiracy to carry out the shootout outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence.
Sources confirmed that the US has completed the deportation process, marking a significant breakthrough for Indian agencies probing the international operations of the Bishnoi gang, which was allegedly spread across North America.
Zeeshan Siddiqui receives deportation update from US
Speaking to reporters, Baba Siddiqui’s son and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddiqui said his family has registered as a victim family with the US Justice Department, which will help them get official updates.
“We have been registered as a victim family in the US, so through victim notification we get updates about Anmol Bishnoi,” he said. “Earlier also, we learned that he was detained by DHS in a prison in Iowa, and today we received a mail that the federal government has deported Anmol from the US on November 18, 2025.”
Interpol sources indicated that Anmol is likely to be brought to New Delhi, where the NIA may seek his custody. Earlier he was taken into police custody in California.
Zeeshan urged both the Central and Maharashtra governments to ensure that Anmol is brought directly to Mumbai.
“My request is to bring him back and ensure that he is interrogated and arrested because he is a real threat to society,” he said. He also stressed the need to uncover the broader conspiracy. “It is very important to know who asked Anmol to do this. Someone must have directed him. We are still waiting for justice. It has been more than a year.”
Mastermind of high-profile murders
Anmol, who was reportedly detained by US authorities in November 2024, has been named the key conspirator in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, who was shot dead outside the Bandra office of his son Zeeshan on October 12, 2024.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch’s chargesheet, which names 26 arrested accused, says Anmol hatched the murder conspiracy to “create fear and dominance over the crime syndicate”. The investigators also recovered a voice clip from the accused, which allegedly contained Anmol’s instructions.
Elaborate conspiracy to target Salman Khan
Anmol is also wanted in the case of firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra house in April 2024. The MCOCA charge sheet says he coordinated the attack from abroad through secure communication apps. After two bike-borne shooters opened fire at the actor’s residence, Anmol reportedly took responsibility online and described it as the “first and last warning”.
Police evidence, including audio transcripts, suggests that Anmol instructed shooter Vicky Gupta to fire to “scare” the actor – investigators have described this as deliberate criminal intimidation.
A separate investigation by the Navi Mumbai Police revealed a wider murder conspiracy similar to the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, which included reconnaissance at several locations, including Khan’s Panvel farmhouse, and a plan to purchase advanced weapons.
NIA likely to take over investigation
With over 18 criminal cases registered against him across India – including the Moosewala murder – the Center is likely to transfer the case to the National Investigation Agency. Officials say his interrogation will be important in unearthing the gang’s finances, logistics and international crime network.
