Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will meet US President Donald Trump in a historic meeting at the White House. This will be the first visit of the Saudi royal family to the US in the last seven years. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also visit Spain for talks with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and to secure Madrid’s support for its air defense.
This Tuesday is going to be a jam-packed event, with many major events taking place across the world.
To begin with, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House. The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen their long-term partnership.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be in Spain for an official visit. He is likely to attend an event of the Congress of Deputies during his stay.
In India, the Congress has called a review meeting with in-charges, state unit chiefs, Congress legislature party leaders and secretaries of the 12 states and union territories where a special intensive revision of the electoral rolls is currently underway. This meeting is taking place right after the party’s major defeat at the hands of NDA in Bihar.
Here’s everything that’s set to happen.
Saudi Crown Prince will meet Trump
US President Donald Trump will host Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House on Tuesday. This will be the Prince’s first visit to the White House in seven years.
Trump is looking to secure benefits from a $600 billion Saudi investment pledge, which was announced during his visit to the kingdom in May. At that time, he refrained from raising human rights concerns and is expected to do the same during this visit.
The agenda for Mohammed bin Salman is also packed. He wants stronger security assurances at a time of regional tensions, as well as access to artificial intelligence technology and progress on an agreement for a civilian nuclear program.
Plans for the big day include a military reception, a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office and an evening dinner. Sources said invitations have already been issued, largely to top corporate leaders, lawmakers and governors, many of whom Trump called personally. cnnFirst Lady Melania Trump is overseeing program coordination, as is customary for major visits,
Ukraine’s Zelensky to visit Spain
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will travel to Spain on Tuesday, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
During the visit, Zelensky will attend a session of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. They will be welcomed by members of the Chamber’s leadership at the historic “Salón de Pasos Perdidos”. This will be his second official visit to Madrid.
Earlier, Zelensky said that Spain was joining major efforts supporting the defense of Ukraine.
“We have been preparing for this for a long time and now we can say that the visit to Spain will be useful. Another strong country is joining our partners in initiatives that really help us,” he said.
As well as official meetings, multiple sources say Zelensky and Sanchez are expected to visit the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía to see Pablo Picasso’s famous painting Guernica, a powerful symbol of the horrors of war.
Later in the afternoon, the two leaders are scheduled to hold a press conference where they will share updates on their talks and cooperation between the two countries.
Congress called a review meeting
Following its poor performance in the Bihar elections and the party’s strong voice against “vote theft”, the Congress has scheduled a review meeting on Tuesday.
This comes a day after the NDA won a landslide victory in Bihar by securing 202 seats against the grand alliance’s 35 seats. After the defeat, Congress questioned the role of the Election Commission (EC) in the voting process.
Top party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, met to discuss the disappointing result and next steps.
A senior Congress functionary confirmed that the review meeting will be held at Indira Bhawan on November 18 and will be attended by AICC in-charge, state Congress Committee chiefs, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders and party secretaries of states and union territories where the special intensive review exercise is underway.
