Russian nighttime attacks on Balaklia in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region have killed three people and wounded at least ten, including children, local officials said.
Three people have been killed in Russian attacks on a city in Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region, the city’s military administration chief said on Monday.
Russian forces launched two missile strikes on the center of Balaklia during the night, Vitaly Karabanov said in a post on Telegram.
“According to preliminary information, three people were killed as a result of the night missile attack on the city of Balaklia,” he said.
He said ten including children were injured.
Nine people have been taken to hospital. “Unfortunately, calls continue to come in about possible injuries,” Karabanov said.
Kharkiv regional governor Oleg Synegubov said earlier that the injured included a 14-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy and a 61-year-old man.
Russia has targeted Ukrainian territory with drones or missiles almost daily since the beginning of the invasion in February 2022.
Seven people were killed in an attack by Russia on apartment blocks in the capital Kiev on Friday.
As winter approaches, Moscow has also stepped up attacks on energy infrastructure.
Kiev has regularly targeted depots, oil refineries and other facilities in Russia.
On the front lines, the Russian army continues to advance, especially in the southern region of Ukraine where it captured two more villages on Sunday.
