A Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday for talks with mediators, as Israel and the group continued to accuse each other of violating a months-old ceasefire.
A Hamas delegation was in Cairo on Sunday to meet Gaza war mediators, an Egyptian security source and a Hamas source said, as Israel and the Palestinian militant group both accuse Israel of ceasefire violations.
The Hamas official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the delegation would discuss Israel’s “continued violations of the ceasefire agreement.”
Egypt, Qatar and the US are mediating between Hamas and Israel to secure a ceasefire that came into effect last month.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country’s military killed five senior Hamas members on Saturday after a fighter was sent into the Israeli-controlled Gaza Strip to attack Israeli troops.
Health officials in Gaza said at least 20 people were killed in Israeli air strikes on Saturday.
The army said on Sunday that a local Hamas commander was among those killed in Saturday’s attacks.
